The most useless place to worry is in bed. I used to lie eyes wide open and think of all the things that could go wrong, unable to sleep. I have since learned about  the Worry Place technique and I recommend it for other constant worriers.

When a worry pops up (unbidden and inconveniently) I write it down like a shopping list. I permit myself to worry only on the stairs. It is cold and boring, so I am not going to stay there long. (So it limits my worry time.) I go through my worries and decide if they are productive or unproductive. If I can do something about them, then I start on my list of Actions to Resolve this Worry. If these worries are not under my control, I tell myself to just let them go. With a bit of practice, and maybe some hypnotherapy, you will find you can let them go too.

This little chart is right on target!
